Review: Ridwell

Ridwell has been on my radar for a while, their ads pop up on Instagram claiming an easy way to recycle textiles, lightbulbs, batteries, and plastics, to name a few. I’ve had a bag of batteries under the sink waiting to be magically transported to a safe recycling plant and lightbulbs piling up over the years.
Not to mention the massive pile of textiles in the basement where I'd toss old socks, tees, fabric scraps, etc that I didn't want to throw in the garbage but also weren't in good enough condition to donate.
I kept meaning to look into it but you know how that goes, tomorrow turns into next week and next week I forget. So when a flyer arrived in the mail for one month free I finally signed up and received my box with the welcome packet and canvas bags. I filled all but the featured item and clamshell bag, they charged $9 extra for the styrofoam bag which came just in time for a package I got with loads of styrofoam so it was so worth it to get that out of the house ASAP instead of storing it away to deal with later.
I made sure to have everything out by 8am on pickup day and updated it online to let them know I'd have the styrofoam bag as well. They picked everything up seamlessly and left empty bags of the ones I'd filled, it really was that easy.
After my free trial is up I'll be paying $16 per month with the option to add on categories or extra items for extra fees, but you can also prepay multiple months for discounted rates.
Ridwell is a great option for those day to day items that pile up and especially for garments you've got taking up space because you don't want to throw them in the trash. If they're available in your area I highly recommend giving them a try. Tap here to revive a free month at the end of your subscription when you sign up.
